Judo Club

Description

Judo, which translates to the "Gentle Way", is a Japanese martial art and Olympic sport most known for its throws and submissions. Judo is a safe and fun way to stay active and fit while learning practical self-defence. The Western Judo Club will be focusing on traditional Judo techniques based on the International Judo Federation (IJF) and the Kodokan, as well as the holistic understanding of Judo, (maybe even a little bit of competition as well). Here at the Judo Club, everyone is welcome no matter their skill level or previous experience, whether you are interested in learning self-defence, getting a workout in, or making new friends, the Judo Club is the right place for you!

Please note we will be starting from the ground up, so if you are new to Judo and considering it, we would heavily recommend signing up within the first two weeks of each semester’s sessions.

* The cost of the required uniform (although coordinated by the Club) is the responsibility of the Club member.

VP FinanceHi there! I'm Ben and I'm the VP Finance of Western Judo. I'm in my third year of an Honours Spec. in Integrated Science with Biology. I started Judo last year as a member of this club. Aside from Judo, my interests also include weightlifting, Muay Thai and a bit of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
