Renewal of Tri-Agency Financial Administration

Changes are Coming

Use and Management of Tri-Agency Funds:  A Principles-Based Approach

The Tri-Agencies (CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC) have recently launched a new initiative to update the financial administration requirements of their awards.  By moving to a principles-based approach the goal is to be less prescriptive, reduce administrative burden, promote efficiencies, and provide greater flexibility to grant recipients and administering institutions in ensuring the appropriate accountability and use of grant funds.

Western University is one of 12 institutions from across the country participating in the pilot phase of this initiative.

CONSULTATION

The Tri-Agencies want to hear from our award recipients and stakeholders, and will be on campus October 9th and 10th to deliver 3 sessions which will focus on:

  • an overview of this initiative and progress to date
  • roles and responsibilities of grant recipients and administering institutions for the administration of grants
  • obtaining feedback on issues/irritants that grant recipients encounter when using and managing grants funds, understanding the source of issues/irritants and discussing how to potentially resolve them
  • next steps and this pilot project at Western

We encourage grant recipients and research administrators to participate in one of the consultation sessions since your feedback to the proposed changes is essential to the success of this initiative.

All sessions will take place in the 3M Centre, Room 3250.  To register, please click on the the link below.
