Wellness Reset: Finding Balance and Connection

This presentation focuses on wellness, going beyond a surface-level understanding of self-care to examine our deep-rooted need for intentional rest. Participants will take away:

  • A clear understanding of the components of wellness
  • An ability to recognize the four areas of rest and the impacts on physical and mental health when not bringing intention to each
  • A nuanced understanding of the role of technology, phones and social media as it relates to intentional rest
  • An exploration of individual practical strategies to build out a balanced approach to addressing each element of rest

Clarity in the Moment: Mapping Crisis, Distress and Pathways to Supporting Student Mental Health

This skill-based training, provided by Western Health & Wellness staff, is geared to all student-facing staff. In it, you will learn to recognize crisis, distress, and next steps for support; understand what drives emotional triggers and reactions; communicate calmly and de-escalate tense situations; set clear and appropriate role boundaries.

Threads of Connection: Understanding and Combating Loneliness

This presentation focuses on the emerging research on loneliness and the link between connection and wellness. Participants will leave with:

  • An understanding of the three types of loneliness and the health outcomes linked to each
  • Strategies that strengthen and support against each type of loneliness, focusing on increasing connection in our day to day
