Peer to Peer (P2P) Wellness Program

The Peer 2 Peer (P2P) Wellness Program is a peer-led initiative within Western University’s Wellness & Well-being Pillar. The program empowers trained student leaders to support health and wellness across campus through approachable, engaging, and preventative outreach.

Through brief microskill presentations, wellness booths, and campus engagement activities, P2P Wellness Peer Leaders share evidence-informed strategies that support students’ mental, emotional, social, and physical wellbeing. The program is aligned with Western Student Experience's Strategic Plan (2023-2028) and the stepped care model, representing the lowest step of care with a focus on prevention, early support, and connection to services.

Program Goals & Peer Outreach

The Peer 2 Peer Wellness Program promotes a culture of wellbeing at Western through approachable, peer-led outreach. P2P Wellness Leaders support students by:

  • Making wellness part of everyday campus life and normalizing both strengths and challenges
  • Sharing practical, foundational wellness skills, including balanced nutrition, sleep, movement, mindfulness, and social connection
  • Promoting harm-reduction approaches, such as safer alcohol and drug use and mindful screen habits
  • Increasing awareness of and referral to campus mental health and wellness services, helping students navigate available supports

Microskill Presentations Offered

Our P2P Wellness Leaders offer short (<10 minute), interactive microskill presentations that can be delivered in classrooms, tutorials, or student group settings. Current topics include:

  • Stress Management
  • Boundary Setting
  • The Importance of Rest
  • Grounding Techniques
  • Time Management

Presentations focus on building practical skills, encouraging reflection, and increasing awareness of campus supports.
