Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon

Saturday, September 23rd, 2017 Noon-5PM

Organized in collaboration with Forest City Gallery, the Artlab Gallery Western invites you to join us for a one-day Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon event. Please join us for a communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to female artists and feminism. Let’s work together to help close the gender gap so prevalent on Wikipedia. We will be updating existing Wikipedia pages about female artists and feminist art movements or starting new pages on those you feel should be written about. In March, 2017 over 2,500 participants at more than 175 events around the world participated in Art+Feminism’s third annual Wikipedia Edit-a-thon, resulting in the creation of 2000 new pages and improvements to 1500 articles on Wikipedia. Western alumna Siân Evans (MA, Art History, 2007) will be joining us to speak about her involvement in founding and organizing the internationally lauded “Art+Feminism Wikipedia edit-a-thons.” We invite people of all gender identities and expressions, particularly transgender, and cisgender women, to address this absence by inserting Wikipedia entries on art and feminism.
