Academic Consideration for Absences

We understand that there may be times where you are not able to complete your academic responsibilities. All consideration requests must be accompanied by the Academic Consideration Form and supporting documentation.

Please check your course outline to determine how and when your instructor wants you to contact them. It is important you contact them separately from this Academic Absence approval process – and as soon as you can.

There are two ways to request an academic absence:

  • Self-Reported Absence: Short-term absence medical or compassionate reason (48 hours and under), no documentation required, not for finals or course work over 31%.
    • For Science/IVEY or BMSc/IVEY students, you must create a ticket for Academic Consideration including submitting a Request for Academic Consideration Form to request your SRA manually – all rules still apply – same time frame, same reasoning, same course component weighting.
  • Academic Consideration: from illness to religious reason to class conflict supporting documentation is dependent on your reason.
