Employee Parking Permit Unification

As of September 1, 2026, employee permits can now access all non-reserved permit lots.

There is no longer a distinction between grey (perimeter) and orange (core) non-reserved parking privileges. The costs for these permits are now identical, and any valid employee permit can safely park in any non-reserved permit lot without running the risk of a citation.

This means that the following lots have opened up to all valid employee parking permits:

Talbot (Lot F)
Middlesex (Lot G)
Lambton (Lot L)
Visual Arts (Lot Y)

Western Employee parking has several different types of parking permits that provide access to many parking lots across campus. Below you can find the specific details for each.

Employee Non-Reserved	Monthly	Annual
The most economically priced parking permit, allows 24 hour access to the employee Non-Reserved parking lots. Parking stalls are available on a first come first served basis. The Non-Reserved permit does NOT guarantee a parking stall in a specific lot. If a favourite lot is full, permit holders are required to proceed to the next available lot within the authorized zone.	$64.93	$779.21	Payroll Deduction

Employee Reserved	Monthly	Annual
Annually from Sept. 1 to Aug. 31. There are a limited number of Reserved parking stalls in the parking lots throughout campus, however, there may be a waiting list for availability. The Reserved permit guarantees the permit holder a parking stall in the specific lot chosen by the permit holder. **Reserved Parking - a limited number of reserved parking stalls in Employee parking lots may be available to Employees. Parking in a reserved section is authorized only for the vehicle(s) for which the reserved permit has been issued. Reserved permits are only valid in the lot requested. Reserved parking stalls cannot be 'loaned' to another person and/or vehicle. Holders of reserved permits may park in any parking stall within the reserved section of their selected lot. Reserved permits are not oversubscribed. A premium rate is charged for this service.

Permit Types

Employee Non-Reserved Parking (Grey Lots)
Non-Reserved permit holders will be able to park in any non-reserved permit parking stall.
Employee Reserved Parking (Purple Lots)
Employee Reserved permit holders can park in their specific reserved parking stall and any Non-Reserved parking stall.

Payment Options

Payroll Deduction
Monthly payments deducted from payroll; continuous permits remain active until cancelled.
Non-Payroll Payment
Monthly, term, or annual permits paid online through the portal.

Permit Durations

Monthly – select a start date, valid until the end of that month.
Term – available for multi-month periods.
Academic Year – September to April.
Annual – full-year access (September to August).

Important Information

Permits are valid until the end of the selected period.
Availability may be limited for certain permit types.
Vehicles must be linked to an active permit to utilize parking on Western.

All Employee parkings permits can park in both Employee and Student Non-Reserved parking stalls. Please see the below table for more information on Employee Parking lots:

Talbot (F)	North of Tennis Courts, right off of Lambton Drive.
Visual Arts (Y)	Between WIRB and Visual Arts Building, right off of Perth Drive.

Please Note, many of the Employee Non-Reserved parking lots have Reserved parking permit sections within them. Please see the parking map for more information.

Upper Heating (E) Reserved	North East of Alumni Hall, right off of Lamton Drive.

Payroll Deduction Permits

Employees who get paid monthly can have their Payroll Deduction parking permit be deactivated before the 5th day of a current month. Doing so will not have the monthly charge applied taken at the end of the current month.
Employees who get paid on a bi-weekly or weekly timeframe must have their Payroll Deduction parking permit deactivated before the start of the month they don't want their parking permit active for.
To deactivate a parking permit, please email us with the request to either deactivate your parking permit immediately upon request or at the end of the current parking month.

Non-Payroll Deduction Permits

Employees who have paid for multiple months in advance can always return their parking permits early to the parking office to receive a refund.
Refunds will be calculated based on each month that was paid for and has not started yet. For each month that has not started yet, the monthly cost will be refunded.
If the permit was purchased online through the parking portal, please email us with the first four and last four numbers of the card used to purchase the permit, we will find the transaction and refund the appropriate amount.
If the permit was purchased in person at the Parking Services Office, please come into the parking office anytime during our business hours with the card/method used to purchase it. We will be able to process the refund in the same way it was purchased.
The parking permit hang tag (if previously purchased) can be returned to the Parking Services Office at any time to receive the $30 AVI Hang Tag deposit back.
All in person refunds at the Parking Services Office require physical photo identification to be processed.

! Important !

If you are both a student at Western and an employee, your student status supersedes your employee status. As a student, you will only be eligible for student permit options.
