My primary area of interest in both teaching and research is John Milton’s poetry, which I have edited for Penguin Classics. My most recent book, a reception history of Paradise Lost entitled Faithful Labourers, will be published in two volumes by Oxford University Press in January 2013. But I am interested in all renaissance/early modern literature and I take special pleasure in teaching first-year classes where I can introduce young people to the delights of literature of all periods and genres.
