Promoting CCAA Programs & Classes
Organizations offering programs led by instructors certified through the Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging’s Seniors’ Fitness Instructor Course (SFIC) are encouraged to reference the certification in promotional materials. Doing so helps highlight the evidence-based training behind the program and supports public recognition of the CCAA’s national standard.
This section outlines suggested language, visual badge use, and guidelines to ensure consistent, professional representation.
Preferred Language
In communications where the instructor's credentials are mentioned, partners may choose to include the following statement (or a close variation):
“This program is led by a Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging certified instructor trained in the Seniors’ Fitness Instructor Course (SFIC).”
Alternatively, the abbreviation can be used:
“This program is led by a CCAA-Certified instructor trained in the SFIC (Seniors’ Fitness Instructor Course).”
Visual Identifier (SFIC Badge)
- Partners have the option to use the official SFIC Group Fitness Certification badge in digital or print materials promoting the program.
- The badge may be displayed alongside the program title or instructor name.
Badge Usage Guidelines
- Do not alter the colours, proportions, or wording of the badge.
- Maintain clear space around the badge so it is not crowded by other elements.
- Ensure the badge is legible and high resolution in all formats (digital, print, signage, etc.).
Additional Recommendations
- When appropriate, include a brief explanation of what the SFIC entails (e.g., training in safe, evidence-based exercise design and delivery for older adults).
- Avoid using generic or unverified terms like “senior fitness expert” or “geriatric exercise specialist” unless additional credentials justify them.
- Ensure instructors described as SFICs are currently certified and have met the recertification requirements for the current period.
