Funding Opportunities for Organizations
Looking to support your senior-focused programs or projects? This page provides a curated list of funding sources and grant opportunities that organizations and community groups may be eligible to apply for. These external resources can help offset the costs of training, program delivery, and other initiatives that promote physical activity and healthy aging.

Age Better Grant
The Age Better program from HelpAge Canada offers community grants to support seniors’ services nationwide. Organizations can receive up to $20,000 to fund initiatives that promote social connections, challenge ageism, and enhance older adults' well-being. Since 2020, Age Better has benefited over 5,600 seniors across 45+ communities.

Energizing Life
The Hydro One Energizing Life Community Fund awards $25,000 grants to Ontario-based non-profits, Indigenous communities, and municipalities. It supports programs that enhance physical, psychological, and emotional safety, foster diversity, and boost community well-being. Applications open early 2025; winners announced in summer.

Grow Grant
Grow Grants offer $50,000 to $200,000 per year over 2 or 3 years to help scale proven community programs. Funding supports expanding, improving, or adapting services with demonstrated success and community impact. The next application deadline is November 5, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. ET.

New Horizons for Seniors
This program is a federal initiative that provides funding to support projects that improve the well-being and social inclusion of seniors in Canada. Through community-based grants (up to $25,000) and pan-Canadian projects (up to $5 million), the program funds initiatives that promote volunteerism, mentorship, inclusion, elder abuse prevention, and accessibility.

Resilient Communities Fund
This fund supports community-based organizations that deliver programs and services in Ontario and need funding to recover and build capacity, resilience and sustainability. Eligible applicants can apply for a grant to develop and implement medium to long-term plans that address current organizational challenges they are facing to recover and build resilience.

Seed Grant
Seed grants support organizations, municipalities, and First Nations in enhancing program delivery through planning, piloting new initiatives, or building future capacity. Funding is available for short-term projects that directly benefit communities. Grants range from $10,000 to $100,000

Seniors Active Living Centres (SALC) Program
This program supports organizations in Ontario to deliver community-focused activities that promote seniors’ health, social engagement, and learning. Funding covers up to 80% of operating costs (max $55 k/year) and one-time special grants (up to $15 k). Historically, the program has been renewed year to year by the Ontario Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility (MSAA)

Seniors Community Grant Program
The program provides funding to local not-for-profit organizations in Ontario to support projects that help adults aged 55+ live independently, stay safe, remain socially connected, and avoid isolation. Programs can be delivered in-person, remotely, or virtually. Grants range from $1,000 to $25,000, and since 2018, the program has supported over 1,800 community projects.
