Western Researchers Secure NFRF Exploration Grants
We are thrilled to announce that two of our esteemed faculty members, Prof. Elizabeth Gillies and Prof. François Lagugné-Labarthet, have been awarded prestigious NFRF (New Frontiers in Research Fund) Exploration grants. These grants are a testament to their innovative research proposals that promise to advance knowledge and tackle pressing societal challenges.
The NFRF Exploration grant competition recognizes researchers who bring together diverse disciplines in novel ways, fostering bold and innovative perspectives. Each grant, valued at $250,000, supports transformative research endeavors aimed at pushing the boundaries of knowledge.
Prof. Elizabeth Gillies from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, will be leading a project on therapeutic polymers for cartilage repair and regeneration. Prof. François Lagugné-Labarthet, also from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, will focus on the opioid crisis response through decision making and data analytics convergence.
