2022 Paul de Mayo Award for Excellence Awarded to Dr. Xuchun Wang

It is our pleasure to announce that the 2022 Paul de Mayo Award for Excellence in Chemical Research has been awarded to Dr. Xuchun Wang (PhD 2022, Sham group) for his outstanding work in metal-based (electro)oxidation catalysis. During his time at Western, Xuchun presented and published his work widely including several first-author contributions in the prestigious journals Nano Letters and ACS Nano. He had many offers for high-profile postdocs and will shortly be taking up a position with the X-ray Science Division of the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory in the US.

The Paul de Mayo Award is the most prestigious graduate student recognition our Department offers. It consists of a medal, a plaque, a monetary prize, and an award lecture (to be arranged) based on Xuchun's research.
