Prof. Usselman’s Biography of Wollaston Recognized with Acclaimed Prize

We are proud to announce that the late Professor Emeritus Mel Usselman’s book, Pure Intelligence: The Life of William Hyde Wollaston, is being honoured with The Roy G. Neville Prize in Bibliography or Biography. The award, established in 2006, is presented by the Chemical Heritage Foundation to recognize an outstanding monograph or biography in the areas of the chemical and molecular sciences that has been published during the five calendar years preceding the year of competition. The object of this prize is to encourage emulation, inspire achievement, and promote public understanding of modern sciences, industries, and economies.

The following quote is from the Award Program Manger to Mrs. Usselman: “It is my special privilege to inform you that by unanimous decision, your husband’s book Pure Intelligence: The Life of William Hyde Wollaston is the committee’s choice to be the recipient of the 2016 prize. In fact, the committee was so impressed by the book that they decided to go counter to tradition for this award and grant it to Mel despite his passing.”

It is so wonderful that Mel’s many years’ hard work is recognized by this posthumous award.
