Welcome Professor David Brock

daveWe are pleased to announce that Prof. David Brock will join our department as Assistant Professor, starting July 1 2016. Prof. Brock’s time will be split 50-50 between Chemistry and the Western Integrated Science Program ( WISC).

Dave received his BSc in Honors Biological Chemistry from McMaster University in 2004. In 2011, he obtained his PhD in Inorganic Chemistry specializing in Noble Gas and Fluorine Chemistry under the supervision of Dr. G.J. Schrobilgen, also at McMaster. He was heavily involved in development of McMaster's Integrated Science program. Since the completion of his PhD he has been a Sessional Lecturer and then an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at McMaster, teaching primarily at the first year level as well as courses at third year level.

Dave’s expertise involves the incorporation of learning technologies and methods into the classroom to better enhance student engagement and learning. He has extensive experience in the development and implementation of Blended Learning/Flipped classroom models of instruction, the clicker classroom Chemistry podcasting, team-teaching, rich contexts, activity-based learning and just-in-time teaching.
