Knowledge Mobilization and Research Impact

Knowledge mobilization (also known as knowledge exchange and knowledge translation) and research impact are deeply interconnected. Knowledge mobilization is the bridge between producing research and seeing its benefits realized in the world.

Knowledge mobilization involves a broad range of deliberate activities to translate research evidence into action. It can occur at any point in the research process and is most effective when knowledge users are engaged as co-creators throughout the research process.

Research impact refers to the real-world changes that happen because of research.  Effective knowledge mobilization increases the likelihood that research findings will be used. It ensures that research creates meaningful impact within and beyond academia.
