Advanced Health Care Practice
The first program of its kind in Canada, the Advanced Health Care Practice program is a one-year (three terms) course-based master's program offering an opportunity for experienced health-care professionals to obtain graduate-level education in a clinical specialty. This master's-level program uses a variety of approaches to teaching and learning and links advanced clinical practice to critical appraisal of research evidence.
The Advanced Health Care Practice program offers four fields of study
Prepares physiotherapists to be advanced clinicians in the assessment and treatment of neuromuscular dysfunction and manage complex clinical conditions. This program is designed to accommodate students seeking preparation for the FCAMPT designation, as well as those who are already eligible to become an FCAMPT.
Focuses on the development of specialized clinical skills and research methods needed to assess and treat people with acute and chronic wounds. This is an Interprofessional field of study that is open to a variety of health care professionals with relevant clinical experience (e.g., PT, OT, Chiropodists, MD, Nursing).
Designed to help healthcare professionals develop advanced skills in managing complex pain by using their own real-world experiences as a platform for learning. This is an interprofessional field of study that is open to a variety of health care professionals with relevant clinical experience (e.g., PT, OT, Social Work, MD, Nursing).
This fully-online graduate program encourages students to leverage their own experience and emphasizes authentic, case-based learning. The program’s foundations are health promotion and education, evidence-informed health interventions and efficient and effective supports for individuals throughout the lifespan.
