Biography:

Rob is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of Western Ontario, and at Laurentian University where he works to provide domain expertise in wildland firefighting, fire management, and analysis to students and faculty engaged in wildland fire research.  Rob retired from the Ontario Government in 2017 as the General Manager of Response and Operations for the wildland fire program where he oversaw all Wildland Firefighting operations and staff in Ontario.  He began his career in 1980 as a fire fighter with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and continued to work in various capacities for several seasons. Rob spent more than 2 decades as a research scientist and science manager working at both the federal and provincial levels prior to his spending 5 years as the General Manager of Response and Operations.  He has worked and lectured in virtually every province and territory in Canada, across the United States, Australia, and in several European countries.  He is co-author of the award winning book Fire in the Forest (Thomas and McAlpine, Cambridge University Press 2010) and has authored more than 50 scientific papers. Rob has an Hon.B.ScF. (Lakehead University 1983) and an M.Sc. (University of Montana 1988).
