Mengqi Wang won the 2025-2026 SOA James C. Hickman Scholarship
Congratulation to Mengqi (Jack) Wang for receiving the prestigious SOA James C. Hickman Scholarship for the 2025–2026 academic year.
Mengqi is a first-year Ph.D. Statistics candidate at Western University, with a focus on Actuarial Science. Mengqi's research interest lies in Quantitative Risk Measurement and Management. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA), and he is studying towards the Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA).
Mengqi is part of the "New Order of Risk Management: Theory and Applications in the Era of Systemic Risk" - succinctly #NORM - Research Program and Community. Mengqi’s doctoral studies were originally supervised by the late Dr. Ricardas Zitikis, who passed away unexpectedly in April 2025 at the age of 62. Dr. Zitikis was a deeply respected scholar and mentor, and his guidance laid the foundation for Mengqi’s research. Mengqi now works closely with Dr. Jiandong Ren at Western University and Dr. Edward Furman at York University.
