Book a Mental Health Appointment
Western’s Health and Wellness Services is a placement and internship site for several emerging professional staff working toward College registration or licensure. Clients may be offered appointments with Interns or Residents supervised by a member of our multidisciplinary professional team appropriate to the service the student has accessed.
With each appointment, we aim to provide a supportive atmosphere, quality care, and an innovative approach complemented by the diversity of lived experiences among our clinicians and clinicians-in-training.
Hours of Operation:
Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Our services are located in Thames Hall, room 2170.
Virtual Appointments Available
Did you know that you can access a mental health appointment virtually through Health & Wellness Services?
These appointments with our experienced mental health clinicians and interns are conducted on a confidential virtual health platform. All you need is a private, safe place and a computer or phone to connect to the platform.
What to Expect at Your First Appointment
Western's mental health team aims to provide students with effective, timely, safe, evidence-based, and confidential short-term supports through brief mental health counselling. Prior to attending their first appointment, students will be required to complete some preliminary paperwork.
During the first appointment, the counsellor will ask questions to understand students’ concerns, provide support, and develop a plan to address identified concerns. This initial appointment will last 50 minutes. Many students find that one appointment is all they need to get back on track, and others may benefit from a few follow-up appointments. Students will work collaboratively with the counsellor to determine which model best meets their needs. Students looking for long-term counselling will be directed to a range of supports that are available on campus, online, and in the community.
