Campus Road & Sidewalk Closures

Roads and sidewalks across Western’s campus may sometimes be closed to allow for improvements, infrastructure upgrades, or construction of new facilities that support the university’s strategic growth and enhance its impact through research, teaching and learning. Campus roads and sidewalks are also closed occasionally to support the safety and wellbeing of our campus community.

The following road and sidewalk closures could impact your travel to and from Western’s campus:


Campus Road Closures

OWeek Road Closures (September 5 - 12, 2026)

To support pedestrian safety during residence move-in and Orientation Week, there will be intermittent closures of some campus roadways between Saturday, September 5 and Saturday, September 12.

Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6 (8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.)

University Drive will be closed at Richmond Street for residence move-in. Vehicles can access campus from Sunset Drive. Click map to expand.

Saturday, September 5 (7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.)

Huron Drive will be closed to facilitate programming on the North Practice Field. Click map to expand.

Sunday, September 6 (5:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.)

There will be controlled access to Huron Drive during the Western Mustangs Football game to facilitate arrival and exit from Huron Flats and South Valley parking lots. Click map to expand.

Sunday, September 6 (6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.)

University Drive will be closed from Richmond Street to Perth/Lambton Drive to facilitate safe pedestrian travel. Medway Parking can be accessed from Sunset Drive. Click map to expand.

Monday, September 7 to Saturday, September 12 (7:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.)

University Drive, Lambton Drive and Huron Drive will be closed to facilitate safe pedestrian travel. Medway Parking Lot can be accessed from Sunset Drive. Click map to expand.

Philip Aziz Avenue (May 2026 – July 2027)

The City of London is making improvements to Philip Aziz Avenue, Western Road, and Sarnia Road to make the area safer and easier to travel. Philip Aziz Avenue will remain closed until July 2027, with work continuing throughout the winter. Click map to expand.


Campus Sidewalk Closures

City of London and Campus Construction Sidewalk Closures (September 1 - 21, 2026)

The City of London is making improvements to Philip Aziz Avenue, Western Road, and Sarnia Road to make the area safer and easier to travel. Western Unversity has several sites for capital projects and utility renewal. As a result, sidewalks and hardsurfaces along your normal route may be closed. See the maps below for more information.
