Data Entry Using Word or WordPerfect Templates
Guidelines - How to Use the Word
or WordPerfect Templates
Templates are available below for both Word and WordPerfect users.
To begin, click on the link for Word or WordPerfect templates above and then select the template that you would like to use. Then click on the link and you will be given the option to save the template. Save it to either your hard drive or local network to work on. Open the template in your word processing program and begin entering data.
You only need to complete the fields that are not filled in, and only those fields that are applicable to the citation you are submitting
If a particular field does not apply to your citation, you may leave it blank.
When entering data into the fields, please make sure you follow the format given in the Guide to Field Formats. This is very important, especially in the "Author", "WesternID", and "Editor" fields.
Cursor down to DEPARTMENT and use your End key to get to the place for data entry. Enter your department code. After completing this field, you may cursor down once and hit End once to get to the next field for data entry.
Do not use hard returns (Enter) during data entry
When at the bottom of the record, cursor down to the line below "NOTES:" (one line must be left between records).
Do not use Save when you are saving for the first time or you will overwrite the blank template file although you may copy it again from the webpage. You may want to choose a filename that corresponds to your department code (e.g. CES04-1.wpd).
