I-CUE

Grade Level: Grades 11 and 12

Description

Teams recognize and append 25 sequences of numbers, shapes, concepts, patterns in a 10 minute limit.

Participants

3 members per school acting as a relay team

Rules

The first member takes the question sheet, writes the next element of the first sequence and passes the sheet to the next member. The second member does the next sequence and so on as a cyclic relay. A member may pass if he/she feel that he/she cannot complete the sequence and the sequence may be attempted by the next member. A sequence may only be skipped after each member has had a chance at its solution.

Judging

At the end of 10 min. the sheets will be collected and quickly marked for the best score. In the event of a tie a sudden-death overhead projected sequence will be presented to the tied teams simultaneously. The first team to indicate that they know the correct solution will be allowed to respond within 10 seconds of indicating their intention. That team will win if correct and lose if incorrect.

FAQ

Does ICUE still have a maximum of 3 participants per team as stated above?

The schools in each session can divide up into two teams of 3 and we will take the total score for the two teams. For example, Team A - which has 6 players - will split into two teams of 3. If they teams score 12/20 and 15/ 20 then I will record 27 as their score.
