Western, and the Faculty of Health Sciences, takes its directives related to COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) from federal, provincial and local health authorities. The information below is intended specifically for faculty/staff/students of the Faculty of Health Sciences, and is intended to supplement Western's official advisories regarding COVID-19.
The information below will be updated as soon as it becomes available.
Return to Campus and Research Recovery Planning
As part of Western's Return to Campus and Research Recovery plans, approximately 40% of staff in the Faculty of Health Sciences is working on campus and our offices have adopted a modified on-site plan to provide some in-person services.
Administrative Office Hours: Based on the current situation, and in order to protect the health of students and staff, we have made adjustments to the way our office is operating. The Faculty of Health Sciences Dean's Office is open Monday-Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. with a limited number of staff members on site each day. All visitors to the office are required to wear masks that cover both the mouth and nose. We ask that anyone requiring a meeting - either face-to-face or virtual - please contact the appropriate individual to arrange an appointment as our ability to manage drop-in appointments is limited. For information about office hours for our Schools and administrative units, please consult their websites.
Research Recovery: All research activities on and off campus are eligible to resume as long as they:
- Maintain a maximum occupancy of 30%
- Adhere to all health and safety requirements from Western and public health
- Are described in detail in a Research Recovery Plan that has been approved by the Associate Dean (Research)
In-Person Learning: FHS will be offering some face-to-face labs in Nursing and in the Rehab Sector. All these areas will have enhanced safety standards and protocols related to PPE, screening, cleaning etc. We are offering very few in-person classes. Please be reminded that for classes that are being held in person, the room capacity has been listed for all rooms and physical distancing and masks are required.
FHS COVID-19 Travel, Education and Visitor Policy
Due to the changing nature and spread of COVID-19, and in an effort to minimize the potential risk to patients in our care, the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) has adopted a new travel policy relating to all FHS clinical faculty, staff, and learners who work and learn in a clinical care environment.
