About Us

Western University is a global community of passionate individuals focused on making meaningful change in the world today. As a top Canadian research and teaching institution, Western brings together diverse minds and disciplines to power individual purpose for collective impact.

The Western experience fosters meaningful connections that last a lifetime. Even with our national and international reach, Western feels at times like a small, vibrant city unto itself. Faculty and staff are committed to providing the best student experience and achieving Western’s ambitious research mission — working collaboratively, fully in-person and on site.

The Western community includes more than 43,000 students and over 382,000 alumni in 160 countries. Western’s 12 faculties and schools offer more than 400 undergraduate degree options and 160 graduate degree programs.

Western ranks as one of Canada’s top research-intensive universities. Research is an integral part of our University’s mission and external support for research projects exceeds $315 million per year.

Western is proud to be located in London, Ontario, Canada on a campus considered to be one of the most beautiful in the country. It's so inviting, that it draws many of our employees back to campus during their time off to enjoy all there is to offer. Affectionately known as the 'Forest City' — London is welcoming, vibrant and family-friendly. And if you love music, London is proud to be recognized as Canada's first UNESCO City of Music.

Honouring Our Origins

Western respects and celebrates Indigenous Initiatives, and honours the rich history of our campus, celebrated through our Land Acknowledgement.
