Well-being & Support
We are committed to providing students with safe, respectful, and supportive experiential-learning opportunities while offering the resources they need to reach their academic and professional goals.
By prioritizing well-being and support during internships, students can maximize their learning and growth opportunities while also laying the foundation for a successful career.
Wellness Wheel
Health and wellness extend beyond the physical and come from the integration of the body, mind, and spirit, with eight interacting dimensions of wellness working together to create balance.
Keep reading to learn about all areas of wellness and the ways you can support your well-being at Western.
- Emotional Wellness: How someone feels, thinks, and copes with the challenges of life, and how they handle their emotions and the varied experiences they encounter.
- Environmental Wellness: Interacting with nature in pleasant environments and creating an enjoyable personal environment while working to support and protect the environment.
- Financial Wellness: Managing your economic life to reduce stress and increase security. Student loans, college tuition, and financial aid all affect students’ financial well-being.
- Academic Wellness: Managing workloads at school, setting realistic goals, and finding balance beyond the classroom.
- Occupational Wellness: Finding fulfillment in present or future career paths while balancing work and leisure.
- Physical Wellness: Taking care of your body by making positive lifestyle choices, including proper diet, sleep, and physical activity.
- Social and Cultural Wellness: Developing and maintaining a healthy relationship with others while cultivating positive relationships that add value and fulfillment to your life.
- Spiritual Wellness: Supporting your inner self so you can make meaning of your world, the events in your life, and the purpose you fulfill. Feeling grounded and connected, both in yourself and in the world.
