  • Dimensions – A database that provides publications, citations and indicators for uptake beyond academia (e.g., news stories and/or social media) – freely available for personal, non-commercial use.

  • Scopus – An abstract and citation database that allows you to find relevant and authoritative research, identify experts, search for specific information, and browse topics, authors, journals or books across a wide variety of disciplines. Scopus is accessed through Western Libraries.

  • Web of Science – A citation database that allows you to find relevant and authoritative research, identify experts, search for reference and citation data, and browse by topics, authors, or conferences across a wide variety of disciplines. Web of Science is accessed through Western Libraries.

  • InCites – A web-based tool that allows you to analyze scholarly productivity, monitor collaboration activity, identify influential researchers, showcase strengths and discover areas of opportunity. InCites is accessed through Western Libraries.

  • Scholarship@Western – An open access digital repository that collects, archives, preserves, and freely disseminates electronic copies of publications and other scholarly outputs by members of the Western University community.

    Researchers who store a copy of research outputs in Scholarship@Western have access to an analytic dashboard showcasing the readership distribution broken-down by institution type, geographical spread of the readers and a snapshot of alternative metrics (e.g., abstract views, download counts, bookmark counts, number of news/blog/social media mentions, etc.).

  • Altmetric Bookmarklet – A free bookmarklet for Chrome, Firefox and Safari to view the online shares and mentions of your publications.

  • Sage Policy Profiles – A free tool for individual researchers and academics to track how your research has been cited in policy from governments, think tanks, and policymakers across the world.

  • The Lens – A free and open resource that allows you to track the citations (and more) of your patents and publications.

  • WorldCat.org – A free-to-use resource for gathering the spread and uptake of your books and other types of publications (e.g., book chapters, maps, musical scores, recordings, articles, digital images, etc.) among the libraries around the world.
