- Leads and provides expertise to Western Research and the Western research community in implementing sponsored research agreements and institutional partnership agreements.
- Provides guidance to researchers and external sponsors acting as a liaison to ensure research contracts meet Western's policies and procedures, collective agreements and best practices.
- Supports institutional business units and hospital research partners.
- Areas of support include: Master and framework research agreements, industry partners and multi-party research projects.

- Reviews and negotiates short‑form Tri‑Agency subgrant agreements funded by CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC.
- Reviews and negotiates long‑form Tri‑Agency subgrant agreements funded by CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC involving clinical applications and human participants.
- Reviews and negotiates internal grant and AMOSO subgrant agreements between Western, Lawson and LHSCRI.

- Provides guidance and acts as a liaison to ensure research contracts comply with Western policies, collective agreements, Tri‑Agency requirements and best practices.
- Reviews and negotiates inter‑institutional research agreements, including subgrant and subcontract agreements (domestic and international), including those associated with NMREB‑approved research.
- Reviews and negotiates Tri‑Agency and U.S. Government subgrants, including long‑form agreements funded by CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC, NFRF, NIH and the US Department of Defense.
- Supports not‑for‑profit and foundation grant agreements (international), network agreements and international research partnerships, including European Union agreements and Western International MOUs and research collaboration agreements.
- Provides contract support for major research funding initiatives, including the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and the Ontario Research Fund (ORF).

- Leads the review and negotiation of research contracts and agreements with government agencies, foundations and not‑for‑profit sponsors, providing strategic advice and guidance to Western researchers.
- Oversees the preparation of subgrant and related collaboration agreements with external institutions arising from funded research agreements, ensuring alignment with funder requirements and Western’s institutional obligations.
Provides high-level institutional oversight, review and approval for single‑source and private requests for proposals from government and not‑for‑profit sponsors and foundations.
Provides leadership in the support and management of community‑based research agreements, ensuring effective partnerships and risk‑appropriate contractual terms.
Ensures research agreements are structured to meet Western’s policies and procedures, collective agreements, funder requirements and sector best practices.

Provides guidance to researchers on working with industry partners.
Drafts, reviews and negotiates all (i) industry agreements, including technical service agreements and NSERC/OCI/Mitacs matching agreements, (ii) clinical trial/study agreements from government, not-for-profit and foundation partners, and their associated sub-agreements and (iii) clinical equipment transfer agreements. - Ensures negotiated research contracts meet Western's policies and procedures, collective agreements and best practices.
