Clinical Skills Lab

In the Clinical Skills Lab, students have the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning as they apply the theoretical concepts learned in the classroom to modern nursing practice. Students engage in activities using real equipment and materials in a structured environment that is designed to be safe, and supportive of their ongoing development.

Students work in small groups which is ideal for demonstration, repetition, collaboration, and feedback, all of which are essential for the beginner. As students progress in their program, their growing knowledge base, clinical competence, and increased confidence are met and challenged by increasingly complex lab activities.

Practice in the lab is an important part of nursing education, and sets students up for success in their future practice. It cultivates confidence in their abilities, and provides a supportive place to learn from successes and mistakes. Most important, practice in the lab prepares students to practice safely, ethically, and competently with vulnerable patients.
