Office of the University Legal Counsel


The Office of the University Legal Counsel serves as the legal advisor to Western’s Senior Administration teams and the Board of Governors.

The Office has the overall responsibility for managing the legal affairs of the University, relating to its mission, activities and obligations, and providing legal advice on a wide variety of matters including (but not limited to) academic policy, student related activities, governance, insurance and risk management, commercial and intellectual property matters, research and research misconduct, estates, trusts and fundraising, construction and property matters, and business and commercial matters.

The Office includes a Legal Counsel, an Associate Legal Counsel, and a Legal Assistant.
