Petro-Canada Young Innovator Grant
The Petro-Canada program provides awards to early career researchers at Western to recognize, promote and support work that is particularly innovative, impacts positively on the learning environment in their department and has the potential to be of significance to society at large.
This year one winner will receive the designation of Petro-Canada Young Innovator for the period of the grant (one year) for a maximum amount of $16,000.

Application Process
Western Stream Grant
This year the Western award will be offered to full-time faculty members from any discipline. At the time of application, applicants must be within 8 years of their initial research-eligible appointment at a university (cumulative and not solely from the initial appointment date at Western), and currently hold an eligible research appointment at Western.
Please note that postdoctoral scholars are not eligible to apply for the Western Petro-Canada Young Innovator Award.
A full nomination package will include:
- A completed application form & attachments
- The applicant's current CV in any format, five-page limit
- A letter of support from the Faculty Dean is strongly encouraged or a well-recognized referee from the applicant’s field
- a ROLA (Research
On-line Administration) proposal submitted to the Western grant
Robarts Stream Grant
This year the Robarts stream will be administered through the Schulich School of Medcine and Dentistry, please connect with their reseach office for more information.
Application Submission and Deadlines
- Complete a ROLA proposal no later than June 19, 2024.
- Complete the application form, including the letter of support, and submit it to Western Research by 3:00 PM on June 26, 2024 via the online submission portal.
