Education & Training
The OGIRC offers an enriched educational experience to its trainees – beyond the scope of the typical University graduate program. Besides the inherent advantage of working within a multi-disciplinary, multi-sector research consortium, our students are exposed to a broad range of opportunities and activities to develop their communication and leadership skills. Trainees are invited to:
- Lead and participate in outreach events:
- Mentor undergraduate Work-Study students
- Teach and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate level
- Work with industrial partners such as A&L Laboratories Canada and Jamieson Labs
- Hone their presentation skills through seminars, workshops, and international conferences

Journal Club
The OGIRC Journal Club is a seminar/presentation series that runs throughout the academic year (Sept - April). The purpose of the Journal Club sessions is to communicate with others outside of your specialty and familiarize the group with relevant work in your research area. For example, explaining the effects of ginseng on diabetes to agriculturalists, or an engineer showing pre-clinical researchers how a new technique in product development will facilitate ginseng digestion.
