Guest Speaker Lecture: Dr. Simon Lee, Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences, University of Macau
Various staff and students from OGIRC and the Department of Physiology & Pharmacology at Western University attended Dr. Simon Lee's talk 'From Omics to Drug Metabolism and High Content Screen of Natural Product in Zebrafish'. Dr. Simon Lee discussed the various advantages of using the zebrafish model to evaluate drug metabolism, specifically Chinese medicines, and therefore the treatment of different disorders.

The 2013 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair
OGIRC recently participated in the Future of Food & Farming Exhibit in the For the Love of Food feature at The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair (RAWF) in Toronto, ON. Various OGIRC staff and students, along with Ms. Mary Alton Mackey, an international consultant in food and nutrition, provided fairgoers about our current research in ginseng and the future of ginseng. Dr. Ed Lui held a ginseng chicken soup demonstration on November 6th, 2013 at The RAWF, explaning the health benefits of each additional ingredient that gets added to the soup according to tradional Chinese medicine.
