  • Canadian Mesonet Project Update (v2025.05.20): Hail Measurements (and other minor updates)!

    This update to the Canadian Mesonet Portal introduces hail impact reporting from the Hail(STORM) network of stations, the ability to view the "Maximum Estimated Size of Hail" (MESH) radar product from the Multi-Radar/Multi-Sensor (MRMS) project at the National Severe Storms Laboratory, more ways to change your display settings, and bug fixes to the weather alert pop-ups.

  • Canadian Mesonet Portal Update (v2024.11.22): Derived / Adjusted Data Indicator

This feature is especially valuable for providing clarity on the reliability and processing level of the data.

  • Canadian Mesonet Portal Update (v2024.11.18): Quality Control Filters, Legends, UPEI Mesonet, and More

    This update to the Canadian Mesonet Portal introduces significant improvements. These enhancements include automated algorithms for classifying the quality of surface weather station data,  legends for each layer, the addition of the UPEI Mesonet, and other minor changes. These newly introduced features contribute to enhancing the clarity of the data.

  • New mesonet available from the Metro Vancouver Regional District

    We're pleased to announce that new surface weather station data is now available from the Metro Vancouver Regional District (BC-MVRD), who operates and maintains a network of 28 automatic weather stations in the metro Vancouver area. This new network greatly increases our monitoring capabilities in an area that is increasingly at risk for flash flooding.

  • Canada's 'authoritative source' for severe storm research opens in London, ON

    On top of the continuation of already established projects, a new one, the Northern Mesonet Project, will be created to track and centralize weather monitoring stations, which are known as mesonets. The online platform will connect the country's monitoring stations into a larger network and make meteorological data accessible.
