Director's Message
A sincere welcome to all students joining the Faculty of Health Sciences and the new Brescia School of Food and Nutritional Sciences! I am proud to be the Interim Director of the new School.
Danielle Battram, PhD
I joined Food and Nutritional Sciences at Brescia in 2008. My time at Brescia has been an integral part of my Western experience and has shaped much of my academic life. So, when I heard the news about the integration, I was initially shocked and a bit apprehensive. Once we learned however about the new School within the Faculty of Health Sciences at Western, that concern quickly turned to excitement, filled with possibility. We’ve become part of one of the most comprehensive health sciences faculties in the country, opening opportunities for collaboration and innovation.
From the start, Western and its faculty and staff have been unwavering in their commitment to Brescia students, ensuring they receive the learning they expected when they chose Brescia for their education. Within the Faculty of Health Sciences, our Foods & Nutrition and Family Studies & Human Development programs will continue to grow and innovate. The future is very bright, and I am both proud and honoured to help lead the School into its next chapter.
For Brescia students joining the Faculty of Health Sciences in September, know that you are an essential part of the foundation of this new legacy, our Brescia School of Food and Nutritional Sciences.
We also acknowledge the courage and resilience you have shown this past year and we – faculty and staff – are here to support you in any way we can. Thank you for choosing to take this journey with us.
