Director's Message

A warm and sincere welcome to all students — both new and returning — to the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Brescia School of Food and Nutritional Sciences!

Danielle Battram, PhD

The Brescia School of Food and Nutritional Sciences officially became part of the Faculty of Health Sciences in May 2024. Before that, the Foods & Nutrition and Family Studies & Human Development programs were long-standing pillars at Brescia University College. This move has brought exciting new opportunities, positioning us within one of the most interdisciplinary health sciences faculties in Canada.

Being part of the Faculty of Health Sciences means you’ll benefit from a broad, collaborative environment focused on a shared goal: advancing health through world-class research and education. At the same time, the Brescia School of Food and Nutritional Sciences offers the close-knit community feel that our students value — where your success matters.

Our programs play a key role in promoting healthy living throughout the lifespan. Our researchers and educators explore topics like food chemistry, parenting, youth mental health, food literacy, and maternal and infant nutrition, to name just a few.

As you prepare for your future career, know that we’re here to support you throughout your time at Western. Our faculty and staff are committed to providing exceptional student experiences in the classroom, in the lab, and beyond.

I look forward to meeting you and seeing the impact you’ll make.
