Volunteers are needed to participate in a research study at Western to investigate how the brain processes speech and how this relates to language development. Participation will involve 1-2 visits to the university. Each session will last up to 2 hours and will include testing your child’s hearing, language, and thinking skills.
We need children who have all of the following features:
You will be compensated for your time at each visit. We have a very flexible booking schedule, and can offer times during weekdays, evenings, or weekends.

We are looking for child volunteers to take part in a study of how the brain processes sounds and how this relates to language development. Participants must come from English-speaking homes and have no medical or developmental problems.
If you are interested and agree to participate, we will test your child’s hearing and ask you to complete a form about your child’s development. We will briefly measure your child’s brain response to sounds using electroencephalography (EEG). EEG is completely non-invasive and does not involve any form of radiation. If your child is 18-48 months old, we will also test your child’s language skills.
Your child’s participation would involve one visit to either Western University (London site) or Wilfrid Laurier University (Waterloo site) when your child is age 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 48 or 60 months. The visit will last between 2-3 hours.
You will be compensated for your time. We have a very flexible booking schedule, and can offer a time during weekdays, evenings, or weekends.
