Update to the Campus Community

Western has been informed by the Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) that a member of our campus community has tested positive for COVID-19.
We want to assure you that the health and safety of our campus community remains our number one priority.
Western has carefully planned for this scenario and we are coordinating closely with the MLHU to ensure the student is receiving appropriate care and that proper precautions are being taken to minimize the risk of transmission.
The individual lives in a single room on campus with access to a private washroom, and has been in self-isolation since first experiencing symptoms.
Those who may have been in close contact with the individual have been notified by the MLHU and are also in self-isolation.
Anyone else whose living arrangements are impacted by this situation will receive appropriate communication.
This news may understandably be upsetting to our students who remain in residence and our Residence Staff. Our Housing and Health Services staff are available to meet with students and staff to discuss their concerns, provide health advice and review their options moving forward.
Out of respect for our students’ privacy, Western will not be commenting on the specifics of this case.
