COVID-19 Community Update
July 21, 2022 2:00 PM
As has been our experience throughout the pandemic, the impact of COVID-19 on our London community continues to evolve. While we monitor cases and our health system, we continue to consult with our medical experts, public health and our own campus community.
Our current vaccination policy continues and we expect to provide students and employees with an update on the policy and all health and safety measures for the fall academic term the week of August 8.
We are carefully reviewing public data and trends and will be making decisions that will support the continuity of the in-person learning and working environment. We look forward to providing a rich student experience for the 2022-2023 academic year.
We encourage all members of the campus community to remain up to date on vaccinations based on their eligibility. Public health professionals continue to emphasize the importance of third and fourth doses of a COVID-19 vaccine as the best protection against severe illness, decreases risk of hospitalization and reduces transmission, while helping to safeguard those who are immunocompromised.
Booster doses are available on campus and can be booked through our vaccination and testing centre. If you have questions with regards to boosters, we encourage you to consult our occupational health professionals (takecare@uwo.ca) or student health professionals (vaxinfo@uwo.ca). We are here to answer your questions.
Western continues to be a mask-friendly campus. Although masking is not currently required indoors, we strongly encourage community members to consider masking when gathering in groups or working or learning in close-contact environments. Please continue to respect those who choose to mask indoors.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to the health and safety measures that support a safe campus and protect the in-person activities that are so vital to the Western experience.
