Insect Science

The Department of Biology at Western has established research strength in the scientific study of insects and other multi-legged arthropods. Members of our Department use insects as model organisms to understand behaviour and evolution, fundamentals of physiology and adaptation, invasive species and pest management, and conservation of global biodiversity. Novel approaches and techniques include stable isotopes, network theory, gene expression, and chemical ecology.
