Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) provide a detailed outline of commonly used research and husbandry procedures. They have been developed in consultation with experts in the particular fields and have been approved by the Animal Care Committee.
Adherence to SOP's is mandatory. If SOP's will not be followed, detailed alternate procedures must be documented in the Animal Use Protocol (AUP). These changes will be reviewed by the ACC. It is therefore recommended that the reasons for any changes in procedure be clearly outlined.
In an effort to allow for clearer, quicker access to ACC-approved SOPs, as well as to have an easily-accessible repository for ACC-related documents, presentations, and information, we have created a new site in Western's OWL Platform. This site, using the same platform as the online portion of the Research Education Training Program, requires a Western ID to log in. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you require a Western ID. If you have problems accessing the site, please email email@example.com.
