Robert K. Barney Lecture
The International Centre for Olympic Studies (ICOS), founded in 1989 by sport history professor Robert Knight Barney of the School of Kinesiology, owes its inception to his dedication and foresight. With backing from Dean Albert Taylor and Roger Jackson, President of the Canadian Olympic Association and 1960 Olympic Gold medalist, ICOS emerged as a leading institution for Olympic scholarship.
This lecture series, initiated by ICOS Director Angela Schneider, celebrates Barney’s significant contributions and enduring legacy in the field of Olympic studies.
