Sample Preparation Services
We offer a large, well equipped wet lab and specimen preparation space, as well as experienced staff to guide you in sample preparation for microscopy.
Both full fee-for-service and full training options are available for both electron and light microscopy sample preparation methods. Wet lab benches can be rented on a daily basis, and non-profit, per sample fees have been established for most common histological sample preparation and staining methods.
The facility is equipped with the following:
Light and Confocal Microscopy Prep
- Resin cutting microtome for bone and wood
- Sample prep area equipped with all necessary reagents and equipment for immunostain and special stain methods
- Full stock of secondary antibodies and counterstains for immunostaining
- Dozens of biological stains (complete Biology Dept. Collection)
- Biosafety hood and CO2 incubator for maintaining cultures during imaging
- Dissecting microscopes with cameras
Visium 10x Genomics Staining
- Full sample prep and imaging services for 10x Genomics staining for “CytAssist” spatial Biology
- Collaboration with London Regional Genomics Core
Electron Microscopy Prep
- Critical Point Dryer (SEM Prep)
- Sputter coater (PDF, 359 Kb) (SEM Prep)
- Ultramicrotomes (TEM Prep)
- Sample prep area equipped with all necessary reagents and equipment for sample fixation and dehydration (SEM and TEM) and resin embedding (TEM)
- ImmunoGold labeling reagents
- Dissecting microscopes with cameras
Dedicated Project Support
Users who require dedicated support all the way from sample preparation, through imaging, to image analysis and publication can "lease" our staff for "Dedicated Project Support". Project support clients receive a discount on training time and assistance with consultation every step of the way to ensure publication-quality outcomes for their projects.
