Photo Contest Rules – Arts & Humanities' Day

1. Eligibility
This contest is open to high school students aged 14 to 17 who attend Arts & Humanities' Day at Western University on November 6, 2025. Entrants must reside in Ontario. Employees, faculty, and staff of Western University, as well as their immediate family members, are not eligible to enter.

2. How to Enter
To enter, participants must:

  • Take an original photo during the Arts and Humanities' Day event on November 6, 2025.
  • Upload the photo to their own Instagram account.
  • Tag @westernu_arts in the photo post. 
  • Ensure the post is public so that it can be viewed by the University. If your profile is private, send us a DM or email Amanda Green at agreen8@uwo.ca with a screenshot of the uploaded photo to participate.
  • Submit the post by 11:59 p.m. EST on November 9, 2025.

By tagging the university’s Instagram account, participants acknowledge they have read, understood, and agree to these official rules.

3. Parental/Guardian Consent
Participants under the age of 18 must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to enter the contest. By entering, participants confirm that such consent has been obtained.

4. Content Requirements
Photos must be taken during the November 6 Arts & Humanities' Day and must not contain:

  • Inappropriate, offensive, or discriminatory material;
  • Identifiable images of individuals who have not consented to be photographed;
  • Any copyrighted or trademarked material not owned by the participant.

The University reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entry it determines to be inappropriate, offensive, or otherwise not in compliance with these rules.

5. Prize
One winner will receive a Western University sweater. The winner will be selected and announced on or about November 10, 2025. The winner will be contacted through their Instagram account or email address and asked to provide their full name, high school name, and mailing address for prize delivery. If the selected winner does not respond within five (5) days, another winner may be chosen.

6. Selection of Winner
Entries will be judged by representatives of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Western University based on creativity, composition, and how well the photo captures the spirit of the Outreach Day. The University’s decision is final and binding in all matters related to the contest.

7. Rights and Permissions
By entering, participants grant Western University a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, and irrevocable license to use, reproduce, and display their submitted photos (with credit to the participant when possible) for promotional or educational purposes in any media. No additional compensation will be provided.

8. Privacy and Personal Information
Personal information collected from entrants will be used only for the purposes of administering this contest and delivering the prize, in accordance with Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).

9. General Conditions
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Western University reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the contest at any time for any reason. The university is not responsible for lost, late, or misdirected entries, or for technical issues that may affect participation.

This contest is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by Instagram. By entering, you release Instagram from any liability related to this contest.
