Supporting Accessible, Relational and Sustainable Groupwork

In this workshop, participants will explore how to integrate groupwork into their course designs in a way that is meaningful and both supports the learning outcomes of the course while consciously fostering key groupwork skills among learners. The workshop will model approaches to group formation both in its design and through discrete activities exploring both the challenges and potential of groupwork for learning. In this session, we approach groupwork through a relational, strengths-based lens, in order to create group activities that allow all learners to thrive. Participants will leave with practical techniques and tools for incorporating groupwork consciously and sustainably into their courses, regardless of subject area. Tools that will be shared include examples of team charters, strengths-based analysis, goal- and role- setting tools, individual and group reflection activities, and other group project management tools.
