The RGE Murray Seminar Series in named in honour of Dr. Robert Murray, Professor Emeritus, for his many years of service to the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Dr. Murray joined Western in 1945, and chaired the department from 1949 to 1974. Dr. Murray is a founder of the Canadian Society of Microbiologists, is the founding editor of the Canadian Journal of Microbiology, and was president of the American Society for Microbiology. In 1998 Dr. Murray was invested into the Order of Canada in acknowledgment of his many scienfic accomplishments and contribuons to the scienfic community.
