NDTR 2026 Western Deans Event: Transforming Insight into Impact: Advancing Indigenous Health Equity
The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry invites faculty, staff, learners, and community members to attend the annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation event sponsored by the Deans of Western University.
Date: September 30, 2026
Time: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Location: Ronald D. Schmeichel Entrepreneurship and Innovation Building, room SEI 1110
Led by Dr. Rebekah Jacques in collaboration with the Office of Indigenous Initiatives, this year's event, Transforming Insight into Impact: Advancing Indigenous Health Equity, will provide an interactive space for dialogue, reflection, and shared learning. Centering Indigenous voices and the experiences of Residential School Survivors, participants will explore meaningful pathways toward advancing our responsibilities for truth, reconciliation, and Indigenous health equity as a public institution.
As September 30 is a designated non-instructional day at Western University, attendance is highly encouraged. The day provides an opportunity for our community to engage in the ongoing process of learning and unlearning and reflect on our individual and collective roles in creating positive change for our future.
"Education is what got us here, and education is what will get us out."
– Justice Murray Sinclair, Chair, Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada
We look forward to learning together in a spirit of respect, reflection, and action.
Refreshments will be served. Open to everyone, registration is required.
