"From Classroom to Conflict Zone to Courtroom: The Reality of Prosecuting International Crimes"

Norman Farrell reflects on the challenges of prosecuting international crimes over his nearly 40-year career.  He shares his journey from practicing law in Toronto to working in post-conflict and conflict zones and ultimately becoming an international prosecutor. For almost 25 years, he led prosecutions for genocide in Rwanda, genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity in former Yugoslavia, and terrorism in Lebanon related to the assassination of the former Lebanese Prime Minister.
