McCaffrey Seminar Series - Kristen Jeanveau
"The London Underground in the Second World War"
During the Second World War, the London Underground became both a nightly refuge from bombing and a propaganda machine for the war effort. My seminar will look at how these tube stations were converted from liminal spaces into temporary homes through an examination of food services, sanitation, and the art produced both by its evening residents and Transport for London.
