Colonial Novenas, Databases, and the History of the Book in Spanish America

Western’s Special Collections recently acquired seven colonial novenas. This talk explains the significance of these portable texts, a librarian’s adventures to find them, and their place within an expanding database of printed prayers in Spanish America between 1665 and 1821.
