Abstract: Disparities in access to timely, specialized care contribute to variation in outcomes for children with inflammatory arthritis. Using juvenile arthritis as a case study, this seminar applies epidemiologic methods to examine inequities in referral pathways, diagnostic delay, and models of care. Early detection of inflammatory bowel disease–associated arthritis with potential for interdisciplinary team-based approaches will be discussed as strategies to improve access and reduce morbidity.
