Reclaiming Our Joy, Building Our Futures: Black Legacy Conference
📅 Friday, January 30, 2026 | Mustang Lounge, University Community Centre (UCC), Western University
Calling all Black students! Join the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Black Students Association (BSA) and African Students Association (ASA) for a transformative day of empowerment, connection and celebration. Connect with peers, gain valuable career and wellness insights and engage in empowering conversations that celebrate Black excellence and support your path to success.
Anchored in UNESCO’s World Day for African and Afro-Descendant Culture on January 24 and the launch of Western’s Black History Month 2026 programming, we’ll explore what thriving truly means for Black students and communities. We’ll reflect on legacies that shape us, reclaim narratives that sustain us and celebrate the brilliance that carries us forward.
Engage in a powerful conversation across your choice of dynamic industry breakout panels - where you’ll connect with Western Alumni to ask questions, reflect on experiences and explore career pathways.
Highlights of the Black Legacy Conference 2026 include:
- Concurrent industry breakout panels (Black Professionals in STEM; Black Physicians and Healthcare Workers; Black Business, Entrepreneurs and Innovators; Black Lawyers and Policy Makers; Black Artists and MIT Professionals)
- Wellness breaks and networking
- Mental health workshop and group conversations
- Career skills workshop
- Free food and refreshments for registrants
Together, we reclaim joy. Together, we build our futures. Thank you to our collaborators from the USC, Housing and Ancillary Services, Student Experience, Western Alumni and Black Mental Health Canada for your support in making this event possible.
Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions and require any accommodations for this event. RSVP by January 23 to select your breakout panel of choice and save your spot!
